Hans Christian Andersen

Billede
The author Hans Christian Andersen is without doubt the most famous person to have come from Fyn. He was born in Odense on April 2, 1805 and died in 1875. His complete works have been translated into more than 130 languages! Hans Christian Andersen wrote novels, songs, poems and travel books, but is best known for his fairy-tales for children. Virtually every child in the world knows stories such as "The Little Mermaid", "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Ice Queen" and "The Nightingale". Yet the themes and morals of his tales are often just as relevant for adults.

Fyn - A Child's Own Fairy-Tale!

There are lots of fairy-tale adventures to be found on Fyn, Langeland and Ærø. For example you can take part in a real fairy-tale at Fyrtøjet ("The Tinder Box") - a children's cultural centre, situated right next to Hans Christian Andersen's House. You can listen to a fairy-tale, dress up, write your own fairy story, paint or draw, or even compose some music.

Nature & Animals

Billede
Fyn offers many chances to see animals and the countryside. The countryside is an attraction in itself, and many of the attractions focus on animals in various exciting ways. At the Fjord&Bælt in Kerteminde you can, for example, walk on the bottom of the sea without getting your feet wet, through a 50 m long tunnel. From here you can observe the marine life at close quarters and maybe even meet the Danish dolphin - the harbour porpoise.

Look forward to 19 April.
Then Fyn will have a completely new and very different attraction – Naturama, which presents modern natural history.

Naturama - the big new attraction on Fyn - Spectacular natural history for children and adults alike
