Not far from Valdemar's Castle you can see their graves in Landet churchyard.

Then there is the Fyn School of painters. In Faaborg, a worthy patron bestowed the money to build one of the most attractive art museums in the country, which houses the biggest collection of works by the Fyn painters. Sydfyn still attracts artists, and is home to innumerable craftsmen.

The stories you take home from your holiday in Sydfyn will be vivid and thrilling. You can bury yourself in culture, or just amble around the towns, with their atmosphere of adventure and activity. And relax. Because this is a wonderful place for people with hearts.

Sydfyn is a mixture of land and water, and you can feel the close connection with all your senses. The impressive bridge over Svendborg Sound gives a bird's eye view of the whole thing. The archipelago teems with life, with its small yachts, sea kayaks and proud old wooden ships, people enjoying the atmosphere from the beach and the numerous ferries of all sizes which sail back and forth, connecting the islands with the rest of Fyn. It makes a really wonderful sight.

Everything is nearby. From there is the bustling life of the market towns to the small villages, from the foam of the sea to the gentle undulations on land, from island to island. And from person to person. Wherever you go, you are met with a warm smile. What is more, you can see the whole area within a short time and a radius of just a few kilometres.

Even when the ice-cream booths on the beach shut down and the leaves fall from the trees. Ice, snow, summer and sunshine. Sydfyn is always special whatever the season.
