North Fyn

North Fyn
If you thought that Danish dunes were only found in West Jutland, then you are in for a surprise - just head for the north of Fyn. Here you will find Flyvesandet, which means "The flying sand" and is the only area of dunes on Fyn. There is also a beach perfect for children here stretching down to the Kattegat.

The inviting plain of north Fyn

When the wind blows, the proud coast is at the mercy of the weather gods, and so you might prefer to retreat to your holiday home or campsite and savour the view of what we call the "north Fyn plain".

At the top end of Fyn you will also find the Enebærodde peninsula, and area of heath teeming with flora and fauna. It is of a size that means it can easily be explored on foot or by bike. It is certainly worth going there with a picnic. You can also picnic on the boat M/S Svanen, which tours Odense Fjord, while you breathe in the bracing fresh air.

The beaches around Otterup are very popular both for swimming and fishing. If you prefer an easier way to catch your supper, there is a Put & Take lake. The area also has a wealth of handicrafts, an open-air play at Nislevgård and a bustling town with a weekly market day, where there are lots of bargains to be had. What more could you want?

By the way, you should not miss the museum dedicated to Denmark's national food - the potato!
