The little Belt
There are just so many tempting options when you stay near the Little Belt that it can be hard to choose. There is simply an embarrassment of riches.
The coast from Varbjerg in the north to Assens in the south is packed with marinas and lovely beaches.
All in all, the Little Belt is a playground for water-lovers. Divers will be in second heaven, especially in the crags near Middelfart. Old wooden ships stoutly and proudly sail to Middelfart and Assens in July. And, as the people of Fyn are always ready to party, you can be sure of a very special welcome. The sea is the key to holidays by the Little Belt. Landlubbers can also enjoy the Belt aboard the good ship Mira III or the ketch called Haabet. We are not ashamed to boast that the west of Fyn has some of the best fishing spots in the whole of Denmark. Where else can you land a 3.7 kg flat-fish, or a sea trout weighing in at 12 kg? There are places to stay to suit every taste and purse, from a five-star hotel to a campsite or a youth hostel, not to mention the "Bed & Breakfasts", or the lovely holiday homes in the heart of the countryside, with the sea always present. The bustling ports of Middelfart and Assens have a wealth of goods on offer for those who love to shop, but you can still smell the sea while you explore them. |
