Faaborg is set in a really beautiful area with very varied scenery.
One example is the hills called Svanninge Bakker, where a 6 km cycling path runs through lovely countryside from Svanninge itself to the lake Arreskov Sø.

You can sail on a ferry through the south Fyn archipelago to the islands of Bjørnø, Lyø, Avernakø or Ærø.

Faaborg was founded in the 1100s and has 7,000 inhabitants. It is renowned for its lovely museum of Fyn painters. You can explore the specialist shops in the narrow charming side-streets of the town. There are welcoming inns whenever you need a good meal or to quench your thirst.

Visit Kerteminde, a charming and idyllic fishing town with old well-preserved houses.

Attractions include the museum for the artist Johannes Larsen, the Fjord & Belt Centre, the Ladby burial ship, Farvergården museum, Høkeren (a shop selling replicas) and several art galleries.

See the manor house estates and the old villages with half-timbered houses on Hindsholm peninsula, or cycle along the old railway track to Martofte before continuing on to Fyns Hoved, which offers beautiful countryside and abundant bird life.

The fjord boat Svanen sails from Gabet and you can take your bicycle on board. You can take a trip around Odense Fjord, or sail to Enebærodde and then carry on cycling.

The name, "Long Land", is no accident. Langeland is 58 km long and 4-11 km wide. It is never far to the sea, and what is more, Langeland has the best beaches in Denmark.

The cycle routes run over hills, past copses, dry-stone walls, marshes and meadows, and of course, the sea.

The Ristinge peninsula is a must for nature lovers, with its rich bird life and the views across to the island of Ærø. Tranekær is a beautifully preserved village - the castle towers majestically on an elevation nearby. The main town, Rudkøbing, exudes charm too.

There are ferries from Langeland to Strynø, Ærø and Lolland.

Bogense is the smallest market town on Fyn. It boasts an old market square, lovely merchants' houses and the newly restored Østre Mole.

The old commercial port of Middlefart is delightfully located between two bridges. Here there are marketplace festivals on Saturdays in the summer, and Grimmerhus Ceramics Museum, one of the most beautiful museums in Denmark.

While you are on your cycling holiday in the old fortress town of Nyborg, we recommend that you visit Nyborg Castle, the sub-tropical waterland, Fyns Badestrand beach, or Dyrhavemøllen mill (from 1858).

In Ullerslev there is a lovely mass spire in the nave of the church and Hindemae where antiques auctions are held. There is an elevation at Skellerup called Degnens Høj. It was built by schoolchildren and offers a wonderful view over eastern Fyn.

At Lindeskov there are seven stone barrows including the oldest long barrow in Denmark, which is 168 m long. It is also worth seeing the spring called Regisse Kilden at Frørup and the earthworks Magelund Volsted at Lykkesholm.
