Fyrtøjet and Hans Christian Andersen House
FyrtøjetWhen the ship has arrived at Kalundborg/ Copenhagen/ Aarhus you will be picked up by a bus with guide, which takes you to Odense, the biggest city at Fyn and the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen. Here you will start the tour in Fyrtøjet.
Fyrtøjet is a Cultural House for children, which focus on communication and plays that builds around the world famed fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen.
Children will be dressed up and painted as one of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale figures, and they will be told a fairy-tale performed by a professional story-teller. The children will get the possibility to make a journey through different magical universes, where focus is on play, music and fantasy.
At the end of the visit in Fyrtøjet the children get the opportunity to absorb themselves in the many different pictures, which are found in the gallery of Fyrtøjet.
After lunch at Café Fyrtøjet it is time to visit Hans Christian Andersen’s House.
The museum has been rebuilt in 2004 and today it contains a priceless collection of original effects and manuscripts. Here it is possible to experience Hans Christian Andersen’s life from birth to death, his love life and his many journeys abroad, which where all elements that characterized the contents in his writing and which made his own life a fascinating story in itself.
To end this exiting day a show with the H.C. Andersen Parade will take place in the historic old part of Odense City. The parade is a tribute to the writer’s fairy tales and the show and its music present 20 of the beloved fairy tale figures in original costumes lead by H.C. Andersen himself. The entire show is linked together by anecdotes and sudden ideas.
After this magnificent show the bus will return to Kalundborg/ Copenhagen/ Aarhus.
