Events and festivals

If you want to experience musical, culinary or other exciting events, then you have plenty to choose from on Funen. You can bring the family to one of the many culinary festivals and taste some of the specialties Funen has to offer. If you would rather move your body or your vocal cords, then the many sports and musical events are obvious choices.

Culinary experiences

Throughout the year, the towns of Funen hold a number of festivals with food as their main focus. And what better way to spend your time than to gather around fresh and tasty, locally produced delicacies, whether they be vegetables, cheese, fruit, beer or chocolate?

All over Funen, you will find orchards, nursery gardens and farms supplying the highest quality of fruits, berries, vegetables, flowers and farm products to the Danish and foreign markets. Ripening and harvesting take place all year and thus there is always an occasion for a harvest festival.

Music and culture

Ærø Jazz festival, free Thursday concerts and Opera on the Meadow. No matter what musical genre you like, you can always find events on Funen and the islands. If you like family-friendly events focusing on nature and music, then the Langeland festival is a great choice. Read more about all the offers here.

Music venues like Posten and Odense Concert Hall attract national and international artists to Funen. In 2013 you can hear the female musicians Fallulah and Nabiha, and you can listen to Peter I. Tchaikovsky's music in a concert fantasy and suite from the ballet the Sleeping Beauty.

Events for body and soul

If you prefer to have an active holiday or are totally into sports, then you have plenty of options. The water and the coast around Funen offer maritime events and plenty of opportunities to sail kayak, dive, surf and go fishing. Throughout the year you also have the opportunity to watch or participate in a lot of sporting events suitable for the whole family.

Wind in your sails or oars in your hands. Events such as the Funen Round sailing race for preservation-worthy wooden ships offers you a unique opportunity to get really close to the action, because on several of the ships you are able to sign on as a deckhand. You may also participate in or watch the stage race Sea Challenge Fyn.

Now you can participate in a genuine world premier. In 2014, Odense will hold its own Bridge Race and you can be among the first to cross the Odense Canal in a pair of running shoes. THE ODIN'S BRIDGE RACE launches on 14 June 2014, and sign-up begins precisely one year before the race. So get prepared and look forward to a half marathon in scenery that stretches from untouched and beautiful nature to a festive harbour environment. After the race, a concert and a victory dance will be held at the harbour.
