Ærø Kunsthal

When Beth Mohr came up with the idea of opening a kunsthal on Ærø in 2017, she had the vision of creating a kunsthal on the island that exhibits art of professional and international artists and to open an artcenter where citizens and tourists can experience serious art and think and discuss.

Housed in an old merchant's yard

In autumn 2017, she bought the old merchant's yard at Vestergade 41. The existing buildings, which are worthy of preservation, have been carefully renovated to give the impression of what they looked like almost 250 years ago. The idea was to let modern art play against life and the colors of the past.

The first exhibition of Danish, European and American artists opened in June 2018. Within three months, 12.000 guests visited the exhibition - twice as many as expected.

In April 2019 a new exhibition opened with 12 artists from 9 countries, most of them exhibited in Denmark for the first time. With 18.000 guests it was a great success.

1.000 sqm art exhibition

Ærø Kunsthal has a 1.000 m² art exhibition with associated facilities and a large outdoor area for sculptures and installations.

The building stock is divided into a main house and a three-story warehouse with a large courtyard. In the main house there is a museum shop, a studio and exhibition rooms, in the warehouse there are also exhibition rooms.
