Workshop 2: Learn more about cold-water swimming – with a sauna
Learn to master the cold water
Cold-water swimming has become a popular activity for both body and mind – and Langeland offers the perfect setting. With SHORES’ cold-water workshop, you’ll receive a safe introduction to cold-water swimming, with a focus on technique, safety and your own experience. The workshop provides a thorough introduction to how to cope with the cold, control your breathing and build a good routine. It’s not about performance, but about finding peace and strength in nature.

An experience close to nature
When you step into the sea around Langeland, you become part of a landscape shaped by the Ice Age. Here, you are never far from the coast, making the island an ideal place to try your hand at cold-water swimming. The clear water and open horizon provide a special sense of presence. Many find that the cold water provides both energy and mental calm – a break from everyday life and an opportunity for reflection.
Community and new experiences
A workshop with SHORES is also a social experience. Here, participants come together with a curiosity about nature and a desire to try something new. You become part of a community where there is room for both beginners and more experienced winter bathers.
Nearby experiences
When you visit Langeland, there are plenty of opportunities to combine your workshop with other nature experiences. Explore the coastlines, take a walk along the Archipelago Trail, or experience the unique landscape of the UNESCO Global Geopark South Funen Archipelago. You can also visit charming harbour areas or explore the small towns, where there is time for reflection, a desire for community, and space for change.
Practical information
The workshop takes place outdoors by the coast, where conditions are suited to the activity. We recommend bringing warm clothing for the time spent on land afterwards. The areas are generally easily accessible, but the terrain can vary near the beach and water’s edge. It is possible to reach the area by public transport combined with a short walk.
