Møntergården – a fantastic museum

In the middle of Odense’s historic quarter is Møntergården - a cultural-historical oasis with picturesque yards and attractive buildings dating from the 1500s until today. Throughout July there’s entertainment, including magicians, circus and puppet shows.

Two exhibitions offer many great experiences. "Funen - at the centre of the universe" provides a thematic interpretation of Danish and world history from the perspective of Funen. The past is brought to life in many different ways, with sound, light, film clips and interactive methods. The building, Falk Gøyes Gård (1646), is the setting for the exhibition ”Life of the City - Odense in the medieval and Renaissance”.

Free – ARCHAEOLOGICAL GUIDED TOUR of the excavation.

Look over the shoulders of the archaeologists and hear all the latest results from Odense’s past.

A visit to Møntergården is a step back into another time. The old houses and picturesque yards show the building traditions in Odense from the Late Middle Ages until today. With cobblestones, timber framing and leaded windows. At Møntergården you’re transported back to the time when the city was a market town with winding streets and outhouses. You can sense the life of work and trade that lasted all day long. Visit the exhibitions "Funen - at the centre of the universe" and "Life of the City" The new and specially-designed permanent exhibition "Funen - at the centre of the universe" has been described in the newspaper Weekendavisen as "a cornucopia of objects and media. It’s a kaleidoscopic journey through Funen’s history, from prehistory to the present". "Life of the City" about Odense in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The exhibition tells the story of the development of the city from a small village to a city looking out towards Europe.
