A museum dedicated to the art of costume
Step into a world of fabric, sparkle and stories on Frederiksø in Svendborg. Danmarks Kostumarium opens the door to a distinctive universe where performing arts, imagination and history meet.

Danmarks Kostumarium is a museum dedicated to costume design and costume art, housed in the former shipyard canteen on Frederiksø. Its raw, historic setting frames exhibitions that explore the role of costume in performing arts, film and television.
The museum opened in 2021 on the initiative of Thomas Sjølander and is based in part on Anne Marie Helger’s notable costume collection, known as the Råberober. The permanent exhibition is complemented by changing seasonal exhibitions that highlight costume as part of visual storytelling, identity and culture.
Danmarks Kostumarium also serves as a venue for talks, workshops and concerts. It welcomes anyone with an interest in aesthetics, craftsmanship and performing arts and is open seasonally from Easter to November.
