The Archipelago Trail is a continuous long-distance hiking trail that takes you through South Funen and out onto the islands of the South Funen Archipelago. Along the way, you walk close to the coast, through forests and rolling hills, and past small towns and harbour environments where life still moves at a calm pace.

At approximately 220 km, The Archipelago Trail is one of Denmark’s longest hiking routes. The trail runs across South Funen, Tåsinge, Langeland and Ærø and can be experienced either as one long journey or divided into shorter stages.

The landscape changes noticeably along the route. You pass through the undulating terrain of Svanninge Bakker and Svanninge Bjerge, often referred to as the Funen Alps, where the trails reward you with wide views across the archipelago. From here, the route continues through forests, open farmland and coastal stretches with the sea close at hand.

The Archipelago Trail also leads through atmospheric market towns and harbour communities such as Faaborg, Svendborg and Rudkøbing, making them ideal places for breaks, overnight stays or stocking up on supplies. On the islands, you encounter a distinctive island atmosphere that gives the hike a slower, more relaxed rhythm.

The Archipelago Trail is for those who want to experience nature and landscapes in motion – with space for long distances, short day hikes and unhurried pauses along the way. A hiking trail where the journey is just as important as the destination.
