The porpoise is a small whale and a mammal. When on land, the porpoise is black/white, but when in water, it looks grey, and that makes it difficult for predators to spot the animal.
Lillebælt is one of the waters, especially in summer, where the porpoises can be seen regularly, and often with many youngsters. They are here because there is plenty of food in the waters.
From April to September, porpoises can be spotted, but most often in May – August. Sometimes you can be lucky, and see them during the winter also. Good observation points is the harbours of Middelfart and Fredericia, Galsklint, Strib Nordstrand and Røjle Klint.
In July-September, VisitMiddelfart arranges Whale Watching tours with guide.
