Nightingale, peat lakes and trails through Funen’s bog

Ejby lies about 18 km southeast of Middelfart. Here, a fine network of trails leads into one of Funen’s largest bog areas. You pass peat lakes, streams, wet meadows and reed beds, and in spring, if you stay quiet, you can hear the nightingale sing in the thicket.   The area covers around 270 hectares, with 245 different plant species recorded, and along the route you’ll find ten numbered information boards about the bog’s nature and wildlife.   In 2015, nature restoration began at Ejby Mose. New trails were laid out, certain areas were cleared, and fences and grazing areas were established.   You can walk a loop through Ejby Mose, cross the reed swamp via the footbridge, and watch life in the reeds up close. If you want to walk further, follow the gravel roads towards Kingstrup.

Shelter, fire pit and fishing rod

At the nature campsite you’ll find a shelter with a view over the bog, plus a fire pit. With a valid Danish fishing licence (fisketegn), you can fish in the municipal lake. The map shows you where the lake is.
  • Most of the area is privately owned, so stick to the marked route.

  • Everyone is welcome, on foot, by bike or on horseback.

  • Dogs must always be kept on a lead.

  • Cars can be parked at the gravel car park near Ejby.
