BaggårdTeatret
BaggårdTeatret creates experiences on stage and in nature - from powerful theatre performances to critically acclaimed audio walks.
BaggårdTeatret is one of the country's largest regional theatres - and also one of the most curious. Based in Svendborg, the theatre creates performances that reach out: To the archipelago, to the world and right into the audience. The theatre is behind both intimate theatre experiences and award-winning sound walks that are experienced with headphones and hiking boots.
Locally rooted - globally orientated
As a regional theatre for Svendborg, Faaborg-Midtfyn, Ærø and Langeland, the theatre brings the performing arts close to both citizens and visitors. Here there is room for school performances, musical productions and experimental drama. Through international collaborations and residencies, the theatre also reaches beyond national borders without letting go of its local roots in the old maritime town.
BaggårdTeatret is a creative and playful theatre that lowers the threshold to the performing arts while developing tomorrow's talents through the Performing Arts Academy in collaboration with the schools in Oure.
Walk with the story
BaggårdTeatret is nationally known for its evocative sound walks. One of the most popular is ‘The Silence of the Sound’ - a 6 km walk from the Maritime Centre at the harbour in Svendborg to Brechts Hus at Skovsbostrand. Along the way, you meet six South Funen author voices - both living and deceased - and are invited to reflect on life choices and your own story.
With the app in your pocket and nature all around you, the show plays when it suits you - and in multiple languages. Because at BaggårdTeatret, the stage is bigger than the theatre, and you are always invited.
