Danmarks Museum for Lystsejlads

Explore the history of yachting.

The museum is temporarily closed due to relocation.

In the large hall at the harbor in Svendborg, you have the opportunity to experience over 130 vessels - ranging from small dinghies and classic kayaks to historical boats such as the Starboat Leise, which sailed with the Olympic flame, or Denmark's smallest spidsgatter "Bette Ole" at just 4 meters.

Additionally, there are plenty of exciting artifacts. Among them, Paul Elvstrøm's stopwatch, from when he won his first Olympics, and the world's first composite rigging, which is actually a Danish invention.

In the summer of 2024, there will be an exhibition about the history of Danish Olympic sailing. The Olympic exhibition opens in the spring and will offer a wealth of knowledge, exciting boats, and stories from Danish Olympic sailors' Olympic history.
