Fænøsund is an ideal choice for a few hours of fishing with deep water and strong current. Perfect for summer evenings, nights, and early mornings – but also worth trying in spring and autumn.
If you’re in the Middelfart area and have a couple of hours to spare with your sea trout rod, the stretch at Fænøsund is a great choice. After a beautiful walk through the forest, you’ll reach the parking area right by the water, where you can fish both left and right. In both directions, it gets deep quickly. There’s almost always a good current in the 55-meter-deep strait between Funen and Fænø – ideal conditions for summer fishing in the evening, at night, and early in the morning. Still, don’t hesitate to try the spot in late spring and autumn too. The beach is narrow, but fly fishers can find room for a back cast by wading out carefully. Best wind direction: N – E.
