Flyvesandet Beach
Experience Funen’s northernmost point at Flyvesandet. Here you’ll find the island's only real sand dunes, a child-friendly Blue Flag beach, and a fabulous view of Samsø. Whether you want to swim, walk in the woods, or go on a nature adventure, a unique experience awaits.
Flyvesandet: Dunes, family-friendly beach, and Funen’s northernmost point
Flyvesandet is one of the most fascinating spots in North Funen. As the only place on the island, you can experience genuine, soft sand dunes that bring to mind the Danish west coast. Located at the tip of Agernæs, you’ll find a unique combination of wild nature, a child-friendly beach, and deep woodlands.
Blue Flag and family-friendly waters
Flyvesandet Beach is known for its fine sand and very shallow water, making it an excellent swimming beach. As proof of the clean water and great facilities, the Blue Flag flies over the beach. This is your guarantee of a safe and eco-friendly experience with access to toilets and high water quality.
Where the sand flies and history lives
The name Flyvesandet (The Flying Sand) tells the story of a time when sand blew freely from the shore to form the dunes. Although much of the area is now covered by marram grass and greenery, the landscape still feels wild. Here, you can enjoy views across the Kattegat all the way to the island of Samsø, find fossils (belemnites) and amber along the water's edge, or look for the rare Small Pasque Flower.
Activities for the whole family

- Birdlife and views: To the west, you’ll find a bird-watching tower with info boards about the rich birdlife in the Nærå-Agernæs nature reserve.
- Dogs and the Dog Forest: There are trails in the dunes and a small dog forest near the campsite. From June 1st to September 15th (Blue Flag season), dogs are not allowed to stay on the sand on the beach or swim (service dogs excepted). You may walk through the back of the beach with your dog on a leash. Outside this period, dogs are welcome on a leash.
