Svinø - Havørred Hotspot nr. 105
Svinø and Gamborg Fjord are ideal winter spots with soft bottoms and plenty of food. When the ice breaks in spring, fishing resumes immediately.
There’s not much “island” about Svinø, which is actually a peninsula with the small Ellebæk Vig to the north and the large Gamborg Fjord to the south. In autumn, when the water cools and larger baitfish leave the open coast, sea trout move into the fjord areas, where they spend the winter feeding on ragworms, sticklebacks, gobies, shrimp, and amphipods – all found in and around the soft fjord bottom with eelgrass. The entire Gamborg Fjord offers exactly these conditions. Ice, however, can put an effective stop to fishing. Sea trout do fine under the ice, so as soon as spring returns and the ice breaks, fishing starts again the same day. Best wind direction: NE – SE.
