Experience the vibrant village of Viby on Hindsholm – one of Denmark’s best-preserved villages from the age of traditional village communities.

In Viby, history is visible in the streets, and you can clearly sense how life has unfolded here through the centuries. Discover Viby Mølle, rising above the rolling manor landscape and offering exceptional views across Odense Fjord. Or explore the oldest farmhouses, taking you back to the 1700s – they could easily have been the setting for characters such as Jeppe på Bjerget.

Today, Viby is a lively village where culture, flavour and history come together, and where passionate locals have created an oasis full of experiences for you to enjoy.

Café and art at Viby Gl. Brugs

Sunday, August 9 to Sunday, August 16 · 10 AM–7 PM

Enjoy sandwiches, cakes, coffee and ice cream in the courtyard beneath the walnut tree by the old village shop and grocery store. Experience art and crafts from Hindsholm and the surrounding area, and meet the artists. Free admission.

Guided tour of Viby Mølle

Sunday, August 9 and 16 · 1:30–4:30 PM

Visit the newly restored Dutch windmill and hear about its history and traditional flour production. Admission: DKK 25. No registration required.

Late summer concerts

Viby Kirke: Sunday, August 9 · 7:30 PM – community singing with Erik Sommer
Stubberup Kirke: Sunday, August 16 · 7:30 PM – concert with Familien Bæk

Free admission on both days.

Solar eclipse at Viby Mølle

Wednesday, August 12 · 7–9 PM

Experience the solar eclipse from the mill hill. Bring a blanket and a picnic. Drinks will be available for purchase. Free admission.

Lunch with the restoration architect

Thursday, August 13 to Saturday, August 15 · 11 AM–1 PM

Gain insight into traditional materials and craftsmanship at one of the old farmhouses. Includes lunch with local ingredients and coffee. Meeting point at Viby gl. brugs. Book via Place2Book.

Folk dancing and traditional music

Friday, August 14 · 5–6 PM

Experience traditional Danish folk dancing with Kertemindeegnens Folkedansere and their accompanying folk musicians. Guests are welcome to join in some easy dances along Viby Bygade. Free admission.

Twilight walk through the village

Friday, August 14 · 8–9 PM

Experience the village at dusk together with the night watchman and local residents. Local tastings along the route. Meeting point at Viby Mølle. Price: DKK 50. No registration required.

Open-air concert and aerial acrobats at Viby Mølle

Saturday, August 15 · 6–8 PM

Music and movement merge into a sensory experience by the windmill. Benches will be available – feel free to bring a blanket and picnic. Drinks can be purchased on site. Free admission.
