Enjoy a lovely bike ride on paths and small roads along Odense Fjord, with wonderful views by the water.

Fjordsporet between Odense Harbour and Klintebjerg Harbour is 11.5 km in total, but you can choose to split the walk into several stages. The route follows a path by the water, with views of the fjord along the way. In Odense, you can start from Odins Bro or near Stige Ø. The route is flat and easy to walk or cycle.

How to get to Fjordsporet

  • There are parking spaces at Odense Harbour, by Sortehusene and Stige Ø, and at Klintebjerg Harbour.
  • Between Klintebjerg Harbour and Otterup, it is possible to follow a Clover Leaf Trail.
  • There is a bus between Odense and Otterup. You can find bus options on rejseplanen.dk.

Fjordpath – a lovely path along Odense Fjord

The route runs between Odense Harbour and along Odense Canal and the fjord on small paths.

Odense Fjord was originally a large fjord with many small islands, covering a total of 8000 m². But after major reclamation projects in the 18th and 19th centuries, the fjord became much smaller. Today, the fjord area covers only 2000 m². In return, large, fertile farmland and coastal meadows have been created by the fjord.

On Fjordsporet, you walk along the canal that was dug for Odense Harbour, past Stige Ø, where you can enjoy the view from the large hills, and along the old dykes and former seabed towards the old Klintebjerg Harbour. This was once the largest harbour in Odense Fjord, where many ships arrived every day with cargo.

Today, there are 20 islands in Odense Fjord, which you can see from the path along the fjord. Odense Fjord has become a nature reserve, and many birds nest on the different islands. Most of the islands are therefore closed to public access to give wildlife and birdlife peace and quiet.

If you would like to visit one of the islands, it is possible. You can visit Vigelsø, the largest island in the fjord, just off Klintebjerg. You can hire a boat at Klintebjerg. There is also a ferry to the island several times during the summer season, and it is possible to join a guided tour to the island.

From the path along the fjord, you may also be able to glimpse the long spit of land that separates Odense Fjord from the Kattegat. This is Enebærodde, which is also a lovely place for a trip.
