School camps and accommodation in the heart of nature on Strynø

An island school camp offering tranquillity, togetherness and nature

Strynø Naturcamping provides the perfect setting for a school camp centred on outdoor life and community. The campsite is situated peacefully in the centre of the island and close to the Archipelago Smakke- og Naturcenter, where pupils can learn about coastal life, biodiversity, sailing and seaside activities, amongst other things.

There is plenty of space here for both children and adults, and the surroundings invite you to slow down and get closer to nature – with the option of staying in tents or cabins.

Accommodation, a campfire hut and outdoor activities

The campsite offers access to a shelter area, a campfire hut and activity areas. This makes it possible to combine learning and socialising with meals and outdoor activities.

Among other things, pupils can pick fruit in the old apple orchard, gather firewood at the edge of the forest and gaze at the starry sky away from the city lights. The sea is just a short walk from the campsite

Close to the Archipelago’s Taste and Nature Centre

Just a few minutes’ walk from the campsite lies the Øhavets Smakke- og Naturcenter. Here, pupils can try their hand at traditional ‘smakkejoller’ (small rowing boats), take part in workshops or learn about the Archipelago’s flora and fauna. Strynø is part of the South Funen Archipelago UNESCO Global Geopark, and the area offers a unique cultural landscape and a rich natural history.

Other experiences on Strynø

On the island, you’ll find charming village houses, narrow roads perfect for cycle rides and a local community where you’ll quickly feel at home. In clear weather, from the north coast you can see thousands of swans in the shallow waters at Strynø Kalv, and you may spot feathers and tracks left by the island’s seals.

Practical information

Strynø is easily reached by ferry from Rudkøbing, and the crossing takes only about half an hour. The campsite is a short walk from the harbour. The camp is suitable for both school groups and other groups, and there is access to basic facilities including showers, toilets and a kitchen.
