As December draws near, Assens transforms into a charming Christmas haven filled with twinkling lights and cosy moments. Wander along the cobbled streets of the old town and make your way past Vor Frue Kirke, where the historic surroundings add an extra touch of Christmas atmosphere.

At Assens Harbour, you can experience one of the town’s most charming Christmas traditions: welcoming Santa as he arrives in town aboard the ferry from Bågø. And that is only the beginning. Throughout December, Assens comes alive with Christmas parades and festive activities – from elf trains and Christmas workshops to live music and seasonal concerts. It is also worth exploring the cosy villages and smaller towns nearby. Glamsbjerg, Tommerup and Haarby all offer Christmas activities for the whole family.

A nostalgic Christmas in Faaborg and Midtfyn

Christmas in Faaborg has a magic all of its own. The pretty cobbled streets sparkle with Christmas lights, the scent of fir fills the air, festive music drifts through town, and horse-drawn carriages add just the right touch of nostalgia. Take a break with a cup of hot chocolate at one of the town’s cosy cafés, and let the Christmas spirit settle in.

Hop on the ferry to beautiful Avernakø and feel the pace slow down as soon as you arrive in the island’s peaceful landscape. At Avernakø Landhotel, you can experience Julefrokost i Øhavet – a day that begins with a guided walk through the island’s history and continues with plenty of Christmas cosiness, including gløgg, hot chocolate, festive treats and a delicious traditional Danish Christmas lunch. Christmas spirit comes easily in Kerteminde, where cosy shops, museums, restaurants and farm shops open their doors for a magical Christmas in Kerteminde.

At Høkeren, you can step into the unique atmosphere of the early 20th century, with nostalgic Christmas charm and special festive opening days adding a little time-travel magic to your visit. A stop at the ever-charming Johannes Larsen Museum is also a must.

Let the Christmas calm settle in on Langeland

The old market town of Rudkøbing once again transforms into Juleøen Langeland for the festive season. Expect genuine Christmas atmosphere, a relaxed pace and the warm, personal service Langeland is known for – just the setting for finding thoughtful gifts for the people you love.

For something delicious to add to the Christmas table, explore the many speciality shops selling local produce. Drop by places such as Ostehuset Rudkøbing and Butik Knag.

Experience the true spirit of Christmas in Middelfart

In Middelfart Christmas Town, cosy festive experiences await the whole family. Step into an enchanting gingerbread world and discover one of the town’s most charming Christmas traditions: the Gingerbread Town in Middelfart at Middelfart Museum.

Every Friday in December, the town’s cafés turn up the Christmas spirit with the popular Gløgg Route. Wander through Middelfart’s charming streets and taste your way from stop to stop, with each café serving its own take on the Danish Christmas classic, gløgg.

Enjoy the Christmas spirit of Bogense

The old market town on Nordfyn oozes Christmas atmosphere every year in November and December. Especially Adelsgade has many hidden gems. Take a walk through Adelsgade and enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights. The tour takes you past Hempels Gård. Over time, this special building has served as both a dyeing and butcher shop. Today the home is privately owned and listed. If you are into even more urban history, you will also come across Nordfyns oldest house on Adelgade 44. In 2020, the building has been there for 600 years.

Christmas in the old royal town

When the Christmas lights are switched on, Nyborg transforms into a festive town filled with historic charm and a touch of royal splendour. Don’t miss the lights at Nyborg Castle or the impressive Christmas tree standing proudly in the town square.

Wander through the small shopping streets in search of Christmas gifts, and pick up something delicious for the festive table along the way. Local speciality shops such as Laboratoriet – Vinbutik & Vinbar are well worth a stop.

During the first two weekends of December, the town square fills with the scent of roasted almonds, fir and gløgg as the Christmas market takes over the old royal town. Step inside the warmth of Borgmestergården and admire its beautiful historic Christmas decorations.

Christmas in Nyborg feels a little like stepping straight into a living Christmas fairytale.

Sparkling Odense

Take a walk in the streets of Odense and enjoy the fresh air, the beautiful lights and the decorated storefronts. Leave before dark and get some Christmas gift shopping arranged. You can look into Odenses great collection of specialty stores.

 

You can also stroll around odense´s historic district. This is where the magic Christmas market takes place in December. Walk around and enjoy historic, cobbled streets of the old town, where Hans Christian Andersen grew up. If you are lucky, a little snow will fall to complete the Christmas mood.

Get into the Christmas spirit in Svendborg

Christmas in Svendborg is all about cosiness, creativity and an authentic festive atmosphere. Throughout November and December, you will find plenty of charming Christmas markets, including markets where local artists and craftspeople showcase their unique creations.

Visit the Kunstnernes Julebazar at SAK or WERK’s Christmas market, where designers and makers from near and far present their craft.

Magical Christmas time on Ærø

Visit the fairytale town Ærøskøbing and get in the right Christmas mood. The traditional Christmas market is also held this year, where you can enjoy the Christmas atmosphere in the cozy town. Take a walk through the Christmas decorated pedestrian street and enjoy the sparkling Christmas lights. You can buy a few Christmas presents at your leisure. Be sure to visit Blåbær Gårdbutik and Den gamle Købmandsgaard.
