In the middle of the green garden stands a covered pavilion which serves as a picnic shelter for visitors. Entry to the Visitor Apiary and the pavilion is free, so you can settle down with your packed lunch or a cup of coffee and enjoy the surroundings.

The picnic shelter is situated at the Visitor Apiary and is surrounded by Biernes Have with its bee-friendly flowerbeds. Here you can sit out of the rain and in the shelter, whilst the garden is right on your doorstep. This makes the picnic shelter an ideal stop on a walk around Tranekær – both when you need lunch and for a quiet break along the way.

When you visit the Visitor Apiary, you can see live bees and learn more about bees, pollination and the plants that provide food for bees and other pollinators. There is also an information pavilion about bees, as well as a conservatory with plants and pollination experiments.

The Picnic House is ideally situated for a day out in Tranekær. Combine your visit with a stroll around the castle town, explore the Medicinal Gardens or pop into Tranekær Castle Mill. The area also offers excellent opportunities for walking and exploring the countryside around Tranekær.

Practical information

Admission to the Visitor Apiary and the Picnic House is free. You’ll need to bring your own food and drink. The area has wheelchair-accessible paths.
