Skt. Hans on Fyn & the Islands 2026: where to celebrate Midsummer

On Fyn & the Islands, Skt. Hans can be celebrated in more than one way in 2026. Some evenings come wrapped in dinner, wine menus and sea views. Others are more classic: show up, find a good spot by the bonfire, buy a coffee or a snack, and sing along when the Midsummer song begins.

23 June is the kind of evening where Danes gather around something very simple: fire, shared singing, summer light and the quiet hope that the weather behaves at least fairly well. And here on Fyn & the Islands, locals invite you to all kinds of Skt. Hans celebrations — from the rather fancy to the wonderfully relaxed. Get the overview here.

Skt. Hans with a little extra on the table

Stella Maris, Svendborg

At Stella Maris, Skt. Hans becomes a little everyday adventure by Svendborgsund. The evening begins at 18:00 with a seasonal cocktail and snack, before a 4-course Midsummer menu is served in the restaurant. Later, the evening continues on the lawn, where the bonfire is lit, and Irish Coffee and something sweet are served in the garden.

Stella Maris has turned Skt. Hans evening into a full stay package, so you can let the Midsummer mood last all the way until the next morning. And honestly: when you can wake up to views of Svendborgsund, why hurry home? It is also possible to book the evening without an overnight stay. Tempted? Read more and book here.

Hotel Hesselet, Nyborg

At Hotel Hesselet, Skt. Hans, the Great Belt and good food melt together into a rather fine Tuesday evening. The Midsummer celebration begins at 18:30 with champagne and snacks, before a 4-course gourmet dinner is served in Restaurant Hesselet at 19:00. After dinner, there is coffee, tea and petits fours.

From 20:00, you can buy gourmet hotdogs, draught beer, coffee, tea and soft drinks by the beach, and at 21:00 the bonfire is lit by the water. Dinner can be booked in advance directly with Hotel Hesselet, but everyone is welcome on the beach for bonfire and cosiness. A pretty good combination, if you ask us: a little gourmet first, a little sand in your shoes afterwards, and then a lovely smell of smoke to take home in your clothes.

Broløkke Herregård, Langeland

At Broløkke Herregård on Langeland, Skt. Hans comes with manor house charm, a summer buffet, bonfire and shared singing. The terrace at Kostalden opens at 16:00, and at 18:00 the buffet is served with everything a good summer evening should have. Children under 12 eat at half price, so the whole family can join without anyone having to stay home and chop salad at the last minute.

Later, the bonfire is lit, and the Midsummer song is sung. It is simple, cosy and very Langeland in the best way: green surroundings, time together and an evening where someone else has taken care of the food. Sounds like your kind of thing? Remember to book in advance, so they know how big the buffet needs to be. You can do that here.

Egeskov Castle, Kværndrup

Skt. Hans at Egeskov is not your everyday thing. Which is probably just as well, because a Midsummer bonfire with a castle in the background is not easy to beat.

On 23 June, Egeskov stays open until 22:00, and from 19:00 the celebration gathers in The English Garden. There will be music, bonfire and shared singing, and around 20:00 Katrine Muff takes the stage for a concert and singalong. The bonfire is lit at 19:30, and of course the Midsummer song gets its moment too.

You can join with a day ticket, annual pass or a special Skt. Hans ticket from 17:00. In other words: you can make it a full day at Egeskov — or just arrive for the part where the summer light, music and bonfire take over. Get tickets and read more about the event here.

Hotel Christiansminde, Svendborg

At Hotel Christiansminde, Skt. Hans is placed almost exactly where it ought to be: close to the beach, with views of the water and a meadow ready for a bonfire.

The evening can begin on the hotel terrace, where a 3-course menu with wine, snacks and coffee is served from 18:00. From here, you have views down towards the meadow and beach, where Christiansminde Ice Cream & Mini Golf later hosts the Skt. Hans event and lights the bonfire.

It is an easy little Midsummer outing: dinner first, sea air afterwards, and then the bonfire tying it all together. Dinner can be booked with the hotel right here — and you might consider staying the night and waking up to sea views and the sound of waves.

Storms Pakhus, Odense

At Storms Pakhus, Skt. Hans is celebrated in the cosy, informal setting of Pakhuspladsen. Fire bowls will be lit, Tommy Ejlund plays live guitar, and Fish Shack serves all-you-can-eat peel-your-own shrimp with sourdough bread, mayo and rosé in the glass.

You could probably enjoy the fire bowls without shrimp and rosé. But why, really? With a reasonably priced ticket, you get the whole package: seafood, summer mood and a Skt. Hans evening where most things have already been thought through for you. And since you are right in the middle of Odense, no one says the evening has to end when the embers do. Grab tickets for you and your friends here.

Hotel Kerteminde Strand and Nordstranden

At Hotel Kerteminde Strand, you can do Skt. Hans in the order that best suits a summer evening: first something good to eat, then down to the bonfire by the water.

Restaurant Kalle serves all-you-can-eat whole roasted suckling pig, which can be booked in advance, and later the evening continues on Nordstranden with bonfire, bonfire speech and shared singing. Nordstrandens Ishus will also be open, and drinks can be bought on the beach.

The bonfire itself is open to everyone, so you can make the evening easy with dinner first — or simply stop by, find a spot in the sand and let Midsummer take care of the rest.

Munkebo Kro, Munkebo

At Munkebo Kro, Skt. Hans can be celebrated at a calm pace, with good inn food and views of Kertinge Nor. The kitchen invites you to a special Skt. Hans menu, available as either 2 or 3 courses. See the full menu and book a table here.

It is a Midsummer evening for those who would rather skip the picnic basket, firelighters and “who remembered the blanket?” — and instead sit down at a table, let someone else handle the food and enjoy the evening in peaceful surroundings by the water.

At the time of writing, we do not know whether a bonfire will be lit by the inn or somewhere out on the horizon. Otherwise, you can always head towards Nordstranden afterwards and get your flames there.

Open bonfires and local Midsummer mood

Want to celebrate Skt. Hans without table reservations, wine menus and too many decisions? Luckily, there are still the classic places where you simply show up, find a spot on the grass, on the beach or by the lake — and let the bonfire do the rest.

Hotel Hesselet, Nyborg

At Hotel Hesselet, the beach is open to everyone for bonfire and good company. From 20:00, you can buy gourmet hotdogs, draught beer, coffee, tea and soft drinks by the water, and at 21:00 the bonfire is lit with the Great Belt as its backdrop. Not a bad view for a Tuesday.

Christiansminde, Svendborg

At Christiansminde, the bonfire is lit on the meadow beside the hotel, where Christiansminde Ice Cream & Mini Golf hosts the event. Here, you get beach, water, grass under your feet and South Fyn summer evening all in one. The hotel offers dinner beforehand, but the bonfire takes place down on the meadow.

Kerteminde Nordstranden

At Nordstranden by Hotel Kerteminde Strand, Skt. Hans comes with bonfire, bonfire speech, shared singing and a cosy mood by the water. Nordstrandens Ishus will be open, and drinks can be bought on the beach. Dinner at Restaurant Kalle can be booked separately.

Teglgårdsparken, Middelfart

In Teglgårdsparken, people gather by the “Firkanten” bathing jetty for bonfire, singing, music and speeches, with views of Fænøsund and Middelfart Marina. The area opens at 19:30, and the evening ends with fireworks from the bathing jetty. Everyone is welcome.

Ansgars Kirke / Ansgar Anlæg, Odense

In the middle of Odense, Ansgars Kirke and FDF Odense Ansgar host a family-friendly Skt. Hans evening. There will be grilled sausages, coffee, cake, drinks, stalls and activities from 18:00, and at 19:30 the bonfire is lit while everyone sings together.

Ringe Sø, Midtfyn

By Ringe Sø, Rethingh-gruppen, De Blå Spejdere in Ringe and Erhverv Midtfyn invite you to Skt. Hans on the green area by the lake. The event runs from 17:00–23:00 and offers local Midsummer mood, sausages, coffee, cake, beer and soft drinks.

Langeland and Strynø

On Langeland and Strynø, bonfires are lit in several places on 23 June — including Lohals, Bagenkop, Humble, Tullebølle, Dageløkke, Spodsbjerg, Longelse and Rudkøbing. VisitLangeland gathers times, speakers and updates on one page, and the events are marked with free admission. Island mood: hard to oversell, really.

Teglværkspladsen near Marstal, Ærø

At Teglværkspladsen just outside Marstal, everyone interested is invited to Skt. Hans with bonfire, summer games, barbecue and good company. Bring food and a picnic blanket — or take your chances and see whether local forces have dinner covered.
