The concept makes hitchhiking more natural and picking up hitchhikers safer by providing a fixed framework with good visibility and a friendly invitation to share the journey.   From here, you can easily continue on to new experiences, meet local people, and explore the area in a spontaneous and social way, even if you do not have access to a car.
