Five micro-bakeries across Fyn
Temptations from Fyn come in all forms, and the island’s many micro-bakeries are no exception. From crisp sourdough loaves to sweet treats – here are five irresistible spots you need to know.
Franz Brød
In the heart of the fairytale town of Ærøskøbing, among its cobblestone streets, a scent lingers that makes everyone stop in their tracks. Here you’ll find Franz Brød – a small, local micro-bakery where Andreas works magic with sourdough, organic flour and a generous dose of love. From crisp sourdough loaves and airy rolls to gooey swirls and sticky buns – everything is baked with the island’s wild yeast and a passion for true craftsmanship. Franz Brød is more than just a bakery; it’s a gathering place where community and tradition meet. Drop by, soak up the atmosphere and take a bite of Ærø’s proud baking heritage.

Nær – Café & Mikrobageri
On Albanigade in Odense – right across from the historic Albani Brewery – you’ll find Nær. A micro-bakery where the pace slows down and presence grows in a universe where time and care take centre stage. Jesper and Tine created Nær with a vision to make room for what’s close – in flavour, in meeting guests and in connecting with the local community. At Nær, every cup of coffee and every freshly baked sourdough loaf is a love letter to fine craftsmanship. The dough rises slowly, the coffee is brewed with precision and the ingredients are treated with respect. Here you can enjoy crisp sourdough bread, delightful cakes, breakfast and lunch in calm surroundings – all with quality and presence at the heart.

Vild Hvede Bageri
In the heart of North Fyn’s nature, surrounded by forest, meadow and lake, lies Vild Hvede – an organic micro-bakery and mill with its own grain production. In the farm shop, you can buy freshly milled flour, while the bakery tempts with everything from crisp country loaves and sourdough pizza to croissants and swirls. Everything is baked with sourdough, local ingredients and flour from the farm’s own fields – because at Vild Hvede, nature, quality and presence are at the core. From field to fork. Behind the concept are two generations of farmers with a shared dream of creating nutritious food in harmony with nature. Visit the farm, take a walk along the beautiful trails and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee with views of the lake, meadow and herb garden.

DJ Bageren
Behind the pink door in a hidden courtyard on Svendborg’s Møllergade, you’ll find DJ Bageren and his irresistible baked goods. Here, the air is filled with the scent of sourdough and sweet pastries, while the ovens deliver bread that could make angels sing. He juggles rye bread, crisp sourdough loaves and airy rolls – and when it comes to cakes, he’s a true master. If you have time, enjoy a sublime cup of coffee and a chat, or take your coffee to go. Find your way through the gate, turn left – and discover all the delights behind the pink door. If DJ Bageren is out running errands, there’s polite self-service outside. That’s genuine South Fyn charm.
