Bagenkop Kunsthal

Bagenkop Kunsthal is a small unique exhibition space with a wide selection of different artists and art forms.

Contemporary art in southern Langeland

Art in unique surroundings

Bagenkop Kunsthal is located in the former rescue station at the harbour in Bagenkop. The building is steeped in history, and with its location just a few steps from the sea and the characteristic fishermen's cottages, it is difficult to find a more atmospheric setting for modern art.

Plenty of art all summer long

Every summer, you can experience approximately 14-16 changing exhibitions in the art hall. Works by various artists are displayed here – both established names and new talents. This means that there is always something new to experience, no matter when you visit during the summer. The exhibitions cover a wide range of genres – from painting and graphic art to sculpture, installation and mixed media.

Time for contemplation

The art gallery is run with the aim of creating a space for reflection and contemplation. Here, there is room to take your time, be inspired and experience art that stimulates thought. Many of the exhibited works revolve around themes such as nature, human life and society – often with a local connection.

Part of Langeland's art scene

Bagenkop Kunsthal is an important part of Langeland's vibrant art scene, which also includes the Langeland art towers – Denmark's longest art exhibition in old transformer towers. Langeland has a proud tradition of art and craftsmanship, and the art gallery helps to bring contemporary art closer to both residents and holidaymakers.

Experiences nearby

Bagenkop is the southernmost town in South Langeland – a harbour town with plenty of atmosphere. Here you will find both an authentic fishing harbour and a modern marina. World-class nature experiences also await nearby: see the wild horses on the cliffs at Gulstav, take a walk at Dovns Klint, or climb into the 5,000-year-old Hulbjerg Jættestue. You can also visit the Cold War Museum Langelandsfort, which is just a short drive from the town.

Practical information

Bagenkop Kunsthal is within walking distance of Bagenkop town centre and harbour. The area is flat and suitable for people with walking difficulties. There are good parking facilities nearby and access to public transport connecting to the rest of Langeland. The art gallery is open during exhibition periods – keep an eye on current exhibitions at langeland.dk.
