Mogens Trolle at Broløkke Manor on Langeland
Come and get up close to some of our wild relatives when zoologist, author and award-winning wildlife photographer Mogens Trolle visits Broløkke Manor on Langeland. The talk draws on many years of working with and photographing animals around the world – with a particular focus on monkeys, apes and lemurs.
Eye Contact with Wild Animals
Mogens Trolle is known for his intimate animal portraits, which centre on the animals’ facial expressions and the look in their eyes. His ‘Eye Contact’ photography project has taken him to jungles and mountainous regions in Africa and Asia in search of portraits of wild primates. In this talk, he recounts his encounters with proboscis monkeys, chimpanzees and orangutans, amongst others – and describes what it feels like to stand face to face with animals that, in many ways, resemble us.
Award-winning wildlife photographer and zoologist
Mogens Trolle is a qualified zoologist and has worked with and photographed animals on all seven continents. He has published a number of books on wildlife and is particularly renowned for his portraits of primates. One of his photographs of a proboscis monkey from Borneo won the Animal Portraits category in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. The talk thus offers an insight both into the world of animals and into the work behind the photographs.
Lecture at Smedens Hus
The event is organised by the Langeland Sammen Association at Smedens Hus, near Broløkke Manor. The former blacksmith’s workshop has been renovated into an events venue, whilst preserving the building’s rustic character. You can choose between tickets with or without a meal. Meals must be selected in advance when booking your ticket.
Nearby attractions
Combine the talk with other attractions in South Langeland. In the area around Humble, you can, amongst other things, visit Humble Church and King Humble’s Grave, or continue on to Ristinge Klint and Ristinge Beach. The nature destinations Skovsgaard and Lindelse Nor are also ideal places to visit. Lindelse Nor is an example of the submerged Ice Age landscape that is characteristic of the South Funen Archipelago UNESCO Global Geopark.
