Experience the beautiful North Funen landscape and the history of the area on the Black Clover Leaf Trail in Otterup. The route takes you from the charming old railway town of Otterup out into the idyllic countryside and back again.

Along the route

The Black Clover Leaf Trail takes you from the railway town of Otterup past Kvindevadet, where women used to wash clothes in the old days, and out past the old, idyllic village of Østrup. Here you will find old, well-preserved houses, the fine old village pond and Østrup Church, which was built during the 12th to 13th century.

Østruplund

In Østrup, you will find the former manor Østruplund, standing proudly with its beautiful building from 1882. The farm was first mentioned in 1456 under the name Østrupgaard and has been owned by several noble families. But it was only when the farm was sold in 1754 to Laurids Schebye, the son of the local parish priest, that it gained a large amount of land. He was a skilled farmer.

When his daughter-in-law was widowed at a young age, she inherited the farm and married the estate manager Elias Møller, who was also a skilled and highly enterprising farmer. From 1818, he reclaimed Fjordmarken by Odense Fjord, and therefore had a decisive impact on the whole landscape here – otherwise, it would quickly have become a rather wet trip around the area.

In the village of Østrup, there is a shelter if you fancy an overnight stay in idyllic surroundings.

Klintebjerg

The route also takes you to Klintebjerg Harbour, which offers a fantastic view of Odense Fjord and the uninhabited island of Vigelsø. By the harbour, there is a picnic shelter where you can enjoy the food and drinks you have brought with you in all kinds of weather. There are also plenty of places outside where you can enjoy your food and the view.

There are also 2 shelters right by the water with a fire pit and pizza oven, if you fancy an overnight stay with a fantastic view.

Village and woodland

Between Klintebjerg and Otterup, the Black Clover Leaf Trail passes through the old, cosy village of Gerskov with a beautiful church, where everyone is welcome to step inside, light a candle in the candle globe or enjoy a quiet moment. Along the way, you also pass the woodland area by Højskov and Snabhave.

In Otterup town, there are plenty of places to buy something to drink and a tasty bite to eat for the trip – or perhaps something to help you refuel afterwards. The shops and cafés are close to Torvet in the town centre.
