The Legend of Søstenen
There are several local legends about Søstenen. The first is about how the stone came to lie here. The stone actually ended up on Langeland by accident. An old witch who lived on Lolland disliked the sound of the church bells from the newly built church on Strynø. In her frustration, she threw a huge stone at the church to smash it.
Another local legend has it that it is here at Søstenen that the stork collects babies before delivering them to their parents.
Take a 3 km walk
The footpath at Søstenen runs from Søndre Landevej to Klæsø Jollehavn by Lindelse Nor and can be used as a link to and from the Øhavsstien via the causeway at Henninge Nor. Along the path, you’ll find information about Snaremose Lake, Henninge Nor and Lindelse Nor. You can also read about the stories associated with Søstenen and Købingshoved.
From the route, there are views of a number of wind turbines, and along the way you can read more about wind energy and its role on Langeland.
