The Deer Parks at Hindsgavl

Hindsgavl Deer Park lies on the peninsula facing the Little Belt near Middelfart. Red and fallow deer roam freely here in an old manor landscape, and a network of trails makes it easy to choose a walk that suits you – whether you have all day or just an hour to spare.

Wildlife in the open landscape by the Little Belt

On the Hindsgavl Peninsula near Middelfart lies a manor landscape that can be traced back to the 1200s. A large population of red and fallow deer lives here, and you will meet them up close as you follow the trail network through forest and across open grassland. The deer themselves help keep the landscape open: their grazing creates the wide views that make a walk through Hindsgavl Deer Park something special.

You choose how far to go. The short Hjortetur (Deer Walk) of 1.6 km is an easy route with a good chance of spotting the deer up close. The Kongebrorute (Kongebro Route) of 6 km passes the castle, runs through the forest and follows the peninsula's north coast, partly inside and partly outside the deer park fence. The long Kongebrorute of 9.6 km takes in most of the area's sights and offers the best chance of encountering wildlife along the way.

The trails are wide and level. At Hindsgavl Nature Centre you will find seating and barbecue areas as well as a playground, where you can take a break with your packed lunch while enjoying the view.
